Pianist, Vince di Mura's music is rooted in the Blues. Yet, it wanders into the rich colors of Jazz and hard edges of Rock. Vince plays with many musical and artistic toys. He runs in many styles and reinvents standards and biting original compositions. A critic described the music as a fusion of Blues, Jazz, Spoken Word, Classical and even Heavy Metal. His ongoing collaboration with the great American Poet, Yusef Komunyakaa has been front and center in both his third CD, "For Lost Words," and now, in his most recent offering, "Love Was." So much so that someone has to bring you out of your reverie." di Mura is based in Princeton New Jersey where he serves as the Resident Composer and Musical Director for Princeton University's Lewis Center of the Arts, where his collaborations are entirely dance based. He has performed in concert halls and arts centers throughout North America. He has built a tremendous reputation as an arranger of jazz based theatre revues. Best known for his work on the Sinatra tribute, "My Way" which has had over 500 productions world wide to date. Though his recording output is based in Jazz and Blues, he is a commissioned composer of experimental and theatrical music as well. There is virtually nothing and no area of the musical world that his creativity has not touched. "Love Was" is a very special CD in that it marks the first time Vince and his astoundingly gifted son, Dre' recorded together. A partnership he hopes to enjoy for many years to come.
