简介
In 2013 Alicia Cinnamon came to national attention after she wrote and performed a song dedicated to a young man named Tyson Bailey who was gunned down in Regent Park, Toronto. Her passionate activism caught the attention of CBC News who featured her as an artist making a difference in her community. A year later she released her first mix tape "A Dash of Cinnamon" featuring songs she'd written and arranged herself. The track "Liar's Game" went on to chart on Toronto urban radio and garnered her a following with R&B fans as far away as the UK and Atlanta, Georgia. In 2015 she founded NORTHERN QUEENZ, a co-operative of female artists from Toronto working together to create positive change through music and community activism. Alicia is an experienced and engaging live performer. She's performed for audiences throughout the GTA, including singing the National Anthem at Brampton A's ball games and the Children's Pan Am Games. She has also performed at the Sweet Auburn Music Festival in Atlanta, and has landed one of the lead roles in an American soap opera "Figtree" airing on the Legacy broadcast network. Her single "Liar's Game" was nominated for "R&B single of the year" at the 2017 Hip-Hop CUT Awards and was the recipient of the "New Voice in Reggae Award" at the 2017 Reggae Exclusive Recognition Awards. Alicia's sound is authentic, polished and bass heavy. She writes and arranges the songs herself. Her album Queen of the North is out now with a tour in Toronto, Atlanta and Jamaica to follow.
