简介

Artist's biography in English: Johnny Breaks Chicago Johnny Breaks Chicago (aka Johnny B) has been pushing the breakbeat scene longer than anyone in his home town ‘Chicago, IL’. Starting on turntables at the age of 10 he quickly took hold of freestyle and house music. It seemed splicing tapes together during the mixes was just another way for him to keep the ‘FUNK’ going. It wasn’t until he moved to Florida where he realized what BREAKBEAT was. Studying tricks from DMC finalist DJ Craze and performing in a mix-off against DJ Exotic E and later being judged by George Acosta the following year, Johnny realized his calling – Moving back to Chicago to pursue his career in entertainment he started pushing what he learned in Florida here in Chicago-land. The road has been a continuous UPHILL BATTLE with the Chicago music scene. Johnny would have to fly down to Ft. Lauderdale and listen through breakbeat tracks and then fly back just to play breaks. The record stores in Chicago-land had not a single breakbeat record. When pushed to finally start getting some in, most of the stores had old tracks from artists 6 months back. In 1994 he started plumber productions and released his first Breakbeat mix tape called ‘Just Messin Around’ throughout Florida. In 1997, he started ‘plumber productions’ which turned into ‘Revelation Records & Productions’ and then to ‘Rev2studios’ and finally bought by ‘Glasskitten’. Releasing several PROMO BREAKBEAT mix cds such as: ‘The Annihilation’, ‘Progressive vs. Con Vol. 1’, ‘Progressive Vs. Con Vol. 2’, ‘Rock On’ and ‘Hip Hop Breaks’. In 2003, Johnny B launched a tour to help promote the fact that breakbeat not only lives in Chicago but that he is the one leading the way. He created the ‘Concrete Mixing Technique’ in 1996 (prior to VDJs) which allowed a DJ to be more creative with their mixes using visuals and titles and which after 10 years can finally be WITNESSED first hand on YOUTUBE. Past & recent appearances have taken him from Europe to NYC. A cd titled ‘The launch of Johnny Breaks Chicago’ had a pull out poster of all the events he performed at on tour. In 2005, he launched the first ever all breakbeat radio station out of Chicago called ‘Chicago Breaks Live Radio 24/7’ which has listeners now listening to breakbeat music from ALL over the world. In 2006, he formed the ‘Chicago Breaks Movement’ which is a movement towards the advancement of breakbeat throughout Chicagoland in anyway possible. For over 11 years Johnny has fused breakbeat, trance, techno, progressive and house together to move his crowds. Now, he uses breakbeat, visuals, vocals and turntablism to bump his audiences to new levels. Opening for such artist like Hyper, Donald Glaude, DJ Keoki, Josh Wink, Scooter & Lavelle, Sandra Collins, Atomic Babies, Impact Mechanics, Dave Seaman, Phil K, Dean Coleman and Adam Freeland has made Johnny an artist worth seeing. You can catch him on ‘A Global Groove’ which airs on DI.FM & ITUNES every 2nd week, Chicago Breaks Live Radio 24/7 and several other radio stations worldwide weekly. Johnny owes much of his accomplishments to two very special people in his life, 'Theresa' who has seemed to manage and support his career on and off the decks since the very beginning and 'Josh the Funky 1' who tirelessly, effortlessly and continuously teaches Johnny the 'IN & OUTS' of this ever changing world of electronic music.
