简介

This release is the fourth in a series of remixes of North and South Sudanese musicians. It started in 2009 with the album SUDAN VOTES MUSIC HOPES, compiled by singer and songwriter Max Herre, featuring music by Emmanuel Jal , Nas Jota, Al Sarah, Hallamo de‘pari, Tariq Amin, Sister Dee, Emmy Yoere, Mary Boyoi, Cimalben, Yousif Elmosley, Yobu Annet, Emmanuel Kembe. The idea behind the project was to bring together a diverse group of artists to promote free and fair elections. The cassette tape was distributed across Sudan. Now, South Sudan celebrated its first birthday on July 9th, 2012. SÜDELECTRONIC releases SVMH RMXD 004 with Mary Boyoi’s “Zooz” original and remixes by Portable and Tama Sumo. Mary Boyoi, singer, human rights activist and philanthropist, is from the Murle ethnic group of Southern Sudan. She was born in Malakal, Sudan, in 1980, three years before the civil war erupted. Her father, a Murle chief and military commander within the rebel group - Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/Army (SPLM/A) was killed in 1989. After her father’s death, she and her family spent a number of years in displaced camps in Sudan and refugee camps in Ethiopia to avoid the conflict in the region at the time. Mary continued her higher education in Kenya and completed a series of diploma courses. In 2002, she began working for humanitarian relief agencies in various locations throughout Southern Sudan. It’s through humanitarian work that Mary found her passion – helping others. Mary uses her exceptional talents in music to shed light on issues and calls for peace and reconciliation among her people. In 2005 she founded ABONA International, a nonprofit organization aimed at supporting peace throughoutSouthern Sudan and providing assistance to girls and young women in violent and destructive situations. In 2007 she began to work on her first music project, “Referendum”. She is currently in Sudan, working on producing her second album “Aswot”, promoting ABONA International and working with the government on several peace initiatives. SVMH RMXD is a production by Süd Electronic and Media in Cooperation and Transition (MICT). A special thank you goes out to Wahib Soumade , whose tireless efforts have made us come ever so closer to realizing this project . All proceeds from this release will go towards Mary Boyoi's efforts in bringing about peace in Southern Sudan . Thank you for buying the record .
