Piscean Dreams settles into your heart like a well-worn book of poetry. From the backseat beat of Taxicabs at Night to the sultry, smoky piano paths in Haiku Lines, Jane’s lyrics, her lilting voice, her intuitive skill with every instrument – guitar, dulcimer, banjo, harmonica – guide the listener through a rich sensory experience. The words evoke vivid pictures and sounds and smells. There are rivers of cars underneath the stars, toes painted the color of the morning sun, and unsaid words raked into piles like leaves. The music itself follows the artist’s creative way with a range of sounds from the neo-Appalachian dulcimer in Chinquapin Hunting to the spiritual hum of the harmonium on Year of the Dog.

“The music is not from a particular tradition or genre or learned style,” Jane says. “It’s from my heart. This is the album I wanted to make.”
