The group's a bit like Build An Ark -- no surprise, as they've shared a similar label, Kindred Spirits -- and like that collective, this one really helps bridge a space between older jazz expressions and 21st Century styles -- showing that older music still has a strong influence on the younger generation, especially when the sound is as deep as this! There's plenty of Coltrane and Pharoah Sanders inspiration going on here, but the execution is a bit different too -- bits of strings amidst jazzy flute, keyboards, and trumpet lines -- plus occasional vocals too.
