Aja Lee wrote Dance with me from her heart in the California summer of 2015, after a huge shift in life she decided to write a song about something she wished to happen, as a trial manifesting song of sorts she wrote Dance With Me, a song about a girl who wants to find the perfect person to dance with, a song about wanting to be able to dance again and shed all of life's woes and worries. In a moment she wrote the song, just one evening all at once it came to her. More than a few recording sessions, versions, and different collaborations, this fun and light version was born. Adding the desired Samba beat from Jazz 88's Jeff Darylrimple and the texture was laid, sparse ukulele to give it a simplistic, I just kicked off my sandals and started writing this song under a tree full of fireflies and it all came to me, sort of feel. Her ideas of layering Jazzy, light, creamy vocals unexpectedly over simplistic changes is her way of bringing younger ears and attention back to Jazz and Bossa Nova music. She works with youth in music all over san diego, studying the effects of what chord changes attract different age ranges and how to pull the two parting crowds together, one side with the exiting Jazz aficionado's, and the extreme left of the growing youth pop alt culture growing up on candy radio music. Dance with me is Aja's twofold vehicle for bringing a youth a vibrancy back into quality vocals and message, with a little taste veering more off of pop and harkening back to more vintage vocal landscapes, while accomplishing an enjoyable song for the spirit and heart.
