Ed Haley was born in Miami, Florida. He came to Chicago to be a musician. After the Korean War, Ed attended the University of Chicago and became a psychotherapist. However, Ed never gave up his love of music and played in all sorts of bands. He dropped out of music for 18 years. Inspired by Ruby Braff and Warren Kime, Ed turned to the cornet.
