简介
Mosaic speaks to the heart of God and how all of us are one people. The mixture of genres represents a multiculturalism that can be felt like textures of a woven blanket made from beautiful musical composition. It's a depiction of thoughts transcribed into music written for people who love life, art, and love to love. The first album from dynamic Nashville based drummer, Rick Wilkerson is a mixture of soul/jazz/hip hop in a way that seamlessly fuses the genres together. Mixing live instrumentation with programming, lyricists, rappers, and even a string section, "Mosaic" will quench the palette of any music lover! The album begins with pop influenced songs that are very unique in and of themselves. Kicking it off, "1217" is more of a Stevie wonder/70s soul influenced, feel good tune. While "Why You're Here" written by Wilkerson and Jon Rogerson, featuring the smooth vocals of Kiya Lacey and amazing Nashville strings Prima Voce', is more of an Afri-pop feel with a polyrhythmic motif between melodic instruments. Next is the beautiful cover of the Tears for Fears "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" in 7/4, featuring Nashville based vocalist Jason Eskridge. Then the album takes you on a journey into Rick's jazz influence with tunes that are more of the traditional jazz feel. Written by esteemed composer David Williford, "I Dig Doug's Dog" is a funk/jazz odd meter tune with a heavy bassline motif, and mind bending organ sprinkled throughout. Next is the original ballad by Jon Rogerson, entitled "Loss", written after the loss of his uncle in 2015. It features Rogerson opening the tune with a beautiful guitar solo, then setting up the motif in 5/4 to bring in the band. Third but not least in the jazz section is the amazing ballad "Spring is Here" composed by Richard Rodgers, this version is arranged by Williford, and features Prima Voce'. The final leg of the mosaic journey gives listeners a look into the Jazz hip-hop scene in Nashville with the Rogerson & Wilkerson tune "Prose" featuring Gee Slab. As well as a remix of "Why You're Here" featuring Knoxville native/Nashville based Rapper Mariyo Deon and esteemed producer Mike Ewing. Mosaic takes you on a journey from R&B to Afri-pop to pop. From traditional jazz, jazz fusion, ballads, and to hip-hop. Stacked with some of Nashville's brightest young musicians, composers, lyricists, and producers, "Mosaic" strives to be an album never done before in Nashville. "The influence that the ensemble of professionals that comprise "Mosaic" had on me, made me want to show that Nashville has talented people and the world should hear them!" - Rick Wilkerson
