Singer/Guitarist SELKIE (Born, Jess Yallup) is best known at home as one of the Finalists on the Reality TV Singing Competition Idols. (South African IDOL) In 2013 she became the first South African Singer/Guitarist to be placed with the world's largest Cruise Line Company, Carnival Cruise Lines & has just signed a recording deal with Stone Studios International. Selkie's love for music and composing stemmed from her participation in Theatre and a passion for Stage Acting from an early age. She studied Classical Voice through the Trinity School of Music as part of her Matric alongside drama and then attended the University of KZN (Bachelors;Performance\Media) in Durban where she was very involved in local Student & Supper Theatre. After a good run in theatre and gigging about South Africa's scanty music scene, Selkie's talents secured her with numerous performance contracts with 5 star hotels abroad during her early 20s - Jordan, UAE, Qatar, Dubai, Seychelles, West Africa, SA. Selkie's repertoire, like her loyal fan-base, is forever expanding. People young and old are captivated by her refreshing originality & soulful husky vocals. Selkie is a master of spinning covers and making them her own - her repertoire crosses so many genres and eras that it is hard to name an artist she doesn't cover.
