1999! The Differents record their 2nd LP at Gravity Studios in Chicago with Doug McBride and Chad Adams. Frankie O’Malley (The Safes) provides valuable keys, banjo and Guitar support on the record! Bass duties are handled more than adequately by both Michael O'Malley and Ted Ansani. Behind them lie many miles and many years of pounding the pavements all over the mid-west and the Chicago music scene. All the fun and work put into the band, has paid off in this album. It's just right. Two days of recording, two days of mixing, then the mastering. After many titles are tossed around, "Fate's Going On" becomes the name of the album. Lou says: "Lack of funds prevented the band from pressing up hundreds of copies with artwork ourselves. We invested in a burner instead (this was 1999 btw) and gave some to our friends, sold some to folks, and sent some out to record labels. We didn't want to go the route again of pressing it up ourselves like we did with "VIVA"....we wanted to see what reaction we would get, and we didn't get much. It was disheartening! To have people we knew, and people who THEY knew, rave about it....but get no reaction from folks who put out MUSIC....it was like "Wow!" It helped insecurity creep in speaking for me. I think it's aged well. Deciding to get back together, and having the enthusiasm for the band again, the first thing I decided was to put this record out. Put it out there. It's an entity of its own, and if we are to continue together, we ourselves must respect this beautiful portrait from 10 years ago, acknowledge its beauty and honesty, and move on. Next."
