简介
Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 24 in c minor (K. 491) is dated 24 March 1786 in his autograph catalog of works, K. 491 combines the timbral features of its two predecessors K. 482 and488 by emphasizing minor keys in its opening and closing movements and by expanding the wind contingent. One of only two concertos composed by Mozart in a minor key, the C minor Concerto No. 24 is a work that reflects the increasing density and complexity of Mozart’s music, the development of a style that already perplexed many of his contemporaries. Mozart’s two greatest religious works were left unfinished, but for very different reasons. The Requiem was interrupted by Mozart’s own mortal illness. The Mass in c minor, K. 427,Mozart’s other monumental sacred work, remained in an incomplete state for reasons that are not clear. It remains one of the monumental choral works of the Classical period. Like the Requiem, it was left incomplete with missing movements provided by his mentor and friend, Sussmayr. All of the music not originally composed for this mass setting is by Mozart, taken from other works, mostly also incomplete.
