简介

The composer Matti Drukovich came out nowhere, a child of the mist, a relic of the Romantic Age, a seeming reincarnation of long-dead composers. Called "Finnish bad boy" by the ignorant, and "totally insane" by those in the know, Herra Matti takes great pleasure in thumbing his nose at the Establishment. Whether it is shaking his fist at atonal music, or shaking his bum at NATO, he is not pleased to live in a world of ugliness and perpetual war. That is why he is proud to dedicate his first album to Sergeant Kivelä and Private Kinnunen (google it!). He is also proud to know Vasily and Olga - the Old World pianists who play his songs. You can see Vasily on YouTube. In one scene he maniacally plays "Windpower" (write "Windpower Vasily" in the YouTube Search Box). In another scene he reveals his weakness for vodka. Feisty as ever, but under the influence, he is unable to play a single note (write "Drunk Virtuoso" in the YouTube Search Box). Matti Drukovich wants you to see both sides of his friend, in hopes that moderation may take hold of the immensely talented, yet flawed, Vasily. Unfortunately, due to religious conviction, Olga is not seen in either of the videos. But she is, praise the Lord, heard playing beautifully on the "Windpower" segment. And on the "Tipsy Vasily" segment, she is heard trying her best to get her husband to change his ways. In conclusion, "At The Tomb Of Sibelius" is an album like no other. Classical piano duets are few and far between, and duets with such passion and virtuosity are a rare find indeed. And rest assured that there has never been a pianistic duo like Vasily & Olga. The aura of it all - the songs, the mental images, the melodrama of the performers - it brings to mind the words of the immortal Claude Debussy, "I am trying to do something different". Something different indeed. ...... It is the Drukovich way.
