Back in 2008 I found myself unemployed due to the economic downturn. I used this time as an opportunity to retrain through distance education as a high school teacher - a bit of a change from writing computer software! As a result I found myself at home with many a quiet moment alone. It was at this time that God began putting a song in my heart, although I just thought it was a nice tune. After a few days of humming the melody I wondered if it was a ‘God thing’. So I went to Him in prayer and while in that secret place the lyrics came. No sooner had I written the lyrics and the tune down than I was given another song. This continued for 10 weeks resulting in 31 completed songs and many more musical and lyrical snippets. I really love spending time in God's presence in worship - those gently overwhelming times and also the jubilant uplifting moments when His Spirit invigorates your being. This album really encompasses those times for me. The songs express to God what I would like to say better than I can say it myself. These songs have been a blessing to my family and I. They have lifted our spirits up when life’s challenges seem to become overwhelming. They are a reminder that God sees, hears and knows what we are going through and that He really does care and direct our paths in His grace. They have been a soothing balm in situations beyond our control and a gift of praise and thanks in better times. ‘Angels Sing Your Praise’ covers a variety of styles; however it could probably be described as Contemporary Christian, ranging from reflective to up-beat. We hope you too are blessed and encouraged as we and many others have been. In case you were wondering, I did end up as a high school teacher and I love my job. I have been married 20+ years and have two young adult sons. We live in beautiful Tasmania. I have been a Christian for almost as long as I have been married and wouldn’t change either. Prior to God showing up I was actually an atheist. Becoming a Christian was the furthest thing from my mind; however God had different ideas. I am glad He takes the initiative and does not wait for someone like myself to get around to it.
