I was sitting at my desk thinking about my upcoming 30 year class reunion looking at a High School yearbook. It had been a very long time since I had thought about those days. I had my guitar close by with in a very short time a new was born. Anyone over the age of 30 can relate to the words of this song. It is about rememberance of youth and some of the things that make us the people we are today. 30 years ago We walked across that stage Little did we know The life that we would face We were young, wild and free Just living for the day We’d be on our own 30 years ago Well then some of us left And some of us stayed All made a new life In so many ways Looking back now At how the world has changed How could we have known 30 years ago We were shagging the drag Thinking we were cool Bowling at the Ridgewood And playing pool Hanging out at Pizza Hut til’ one in the morning Then racing in our cars Until after after dawn We were on our own 30 years ago I see unfamiliar faces In familiar places Funny Some things never change As I thumb through the pages Of the days gone by And the memories flow From 30 years ago.
