In composing this music I have neither complied with , nor sought to conform to any periods of Iranian music. When listening to these pieces, the listener may be reminded of the Ghajar era music, and at times of the Montazamieh era music, and maybe at times of Contemporary Iranian music, but this music has been created independently from all of these periods, while at the same time preserving its own logical form and structure.

The pieces are not polyphonic for one simple reason; they go through numerous mode changes, and I have favored keeping this part of Persian music intact in these playful and candid imaginings.

In some of the Nokhosravani poems, the vocalist sings certain sounds termed as “Taranom”. I have borrowed this from the Teymoori period of music. I have engaged the narrator/vocalist/creator in singing Taranom, only when the limitation of words hinders the significance of not divulging secrets to the listener/lover.

Afsaneh Resaee has gone above and beyond her abilities in singing this collection of songs. She courageously entered a previously unexplored realm in her own vocal range, which is a daunting task for any vocalist. My sincere gratitude to her for sharing her soul, and from all who listen to this collection of Nokhosravani poems.
