The Pygmies are a crossbreed of 50's/60's garage rock and 70's garage punk. Since their humble beginnings as a two piece, the founders Jim Blood (guitar) and Brendan Tincher (drums) completed a scorching self-titled release that blasted your eardrums with 8 short, poppy garage songs and 2 garage rock ballads reminiscent of The Kinks mixed with The Real Kids. The Pygmies write simple, catchy rock n roll songs that charm the audience for the two minutes that they are in length. The Pygmies sophomore release "Inside Your Mind" is a record that features a maturing and more confident sound mixing straight-forward garage rock with a more psychedelic edge. On this album, The Pygmies have added Kenna Burima (keyboards) and Ryan Lottermoser (bass) and all four members share vocal duties. Inside Your Mind was recorded over the first half of 2013 at RESTIVE AUDIO, Ryan's home studio, and was mastered by Ritche Perez at Maghouse in St. John's Newfoundland. The artwork was done by Nate Millar, a burgeoning new artistic talent in Calgary. All members of The Pygmies are veterans of the Calgary music scene. Jim and Brendan were in The Neckers for most of the last decade. Brendan has also played in bands such as Hurricane Felix & the Southern Twisters, The Ronnie Hayward Trio, Miesha & The Spanks and even a little stint in The Cripple Creek Fairies. Kenna currently works as a solo performer under her own name and with bands Beaver Squadron (nee Brenda Vaqueros) and HORSECRIME. Her past collaborations include Woodpigeon and Kris Ellestad. Ryan has played in Objects Forming and Telly and is currently recording and remixing as RESTIVE HANDS.
