Formed in the hot Texas summer of 2009, Resz has become one of the most successful local bands in Corpus Christi and in South Texas. With the support of a (growing!) massive fan base, the band has won many Battle of The Bands, including the UPROAR Rockstar Energy Drink BOTB which earned them a spot to play in one of the dates of the tour. Within 6 months of being a band, Resz had their first single playing in the local radio station. The song “Dead Inside” became a staple to the band’s early success. The band later wrote other songs that helped catapult their local success, like “Brace Yourself”, “In Too Deep” and “I Kinda Like It”. Drummer Phillip Hand and guitarist Rick Pimentel decided to get together and practice, after Rick moved back home to Corpus Christi after moving to San Antonio, Tx after high school. The duo began playing open mic nights locally every Tuesday and Wednesday. During one of their performances, they came across lead singer Adrian Guerra while he was playing a few original songs. Later that night, they invited Adrian to practice with them. The day before, Adrian had played an open mic night at another local venue and after his set, he was approached by guitarist Pedro Soares and the two exchanged numbers. A few weeks later, Pedro had exited his previous band and contacted Adrian. The result of that conversation led Pedro into meeting with Adrian at Phillip’s house. Tomas Rosales was approached by Rick and asked to play bass. After a few weeks of playing together, the quintet came up with the name and there was the birth of Resz. A couple of years down the road, Tomas Rosales made a decision to move to New York with his girlfriend, which left the band without a bassist. For a few months Rick and Pedro would switch over on bass as a replacement. After searching and trying out different bassists, the band found Michael Garcia through Craigslist. Mike’s style matched the band very well and over the years he wrote iconic bass lines to the band’s existing songs, including the groovy bass line in “Leave Me For Dead” and “To The End”. After playing for 5 years together, the band has written other songs that paved their road into becoming one of Corpus Christi’s favorite bands. Songs like “Till It Hurts”, “Leave Me For Dead”, “To The End” and “Crosshairs” quickly became staples to their live set and fan favorites. The band has shared the stage with many successful bands in the industry like Godsmack, Seether, Buckcherry, Skillet, Pop Evil, Nothing More, Eye Empire, Adema, Hurt and many more. Their debut album “Transverse Orientation” will be out in the fall of 2014.
