Wildish was born out of the heart of Alexa Wildish in 2012. Alexa spent her childhood swinging in her backyard and singing to the canyons behind her home in Southern California. After twelve years of professional singing lessons and a unique and enriching education at an arts high school, Alexa went away to Elon University in North Carolina where she received a BFA in Musical Theater with a focus in classical music. Alexa’s next few years were spent entertaining on a cruise ship and then, finally, settling in Portland, Oregon where she is allowing her own musical expression to take root. Wildish is an ever-progressing indie folk project that strives to tell stories of our common lives with truth and authenticity, in all life’s pain and glory. Alexa is most influenced by the warm tones and elegant storytelling of Laura Marling, Brandi Carlile, and Joni Mitchell. She has most recently and frequently collaborated with Sean Vinson (Upright Bass) to create a sound that follows the heart . In December 2012 they released their first EP called Invitation and a few months later released their single, The Unknown. This 5 song EP, Bow to the Wind, was recorded, mixed and mastered by Mike "Woodman" Johnson in Portland Oregon and features Alexa Wildish on Voice, Mandolin and Octave Mandolin, Sean Vinson on Upright Bass and Back Up Vocals (The Warden) and Anna Tivel on Violin and Octave Violin. Bow to the Wind is about accepting the impermanent nature of people and moments. Life is constantly shifting, moving and growing and when you can adapt a sense of surrender in all aspects of your journey, it flows with ease and beauty. Thank you for listening.
