SYNOPSIS: OFFICE NUMBER SEVEN: A Modern Fairy Tale, reminiscent of the “Rumplestiltskin” classic, features Lacey as the damsel in distress. In three separate days, she is imprisoned in Office Number Seven by the evil Mr. Devlin and ordered to raise money to save her dad, a well-meaning dreamer whose ill-fated schemes have placed them in Devlin’s clutches. Lacey is saved, it seems, by a mesmerizing computer whiz, who raises the funds to save dear old dad. In return, Lacey must sacrifice her heirloom jewelry, an emerald ring and antique cameo. All seems lost when the computer whiz, Stilts, returns to claim Lacey for his bride. How will she escape her pact with Stilts and win the heart of the man she truly loves? Like the young woman in the “Rumplestiltskin” tale, she must expose Stilt’s true identity to save her future. MAIN CHARACTERS: LACEY: the tale’s heroine, she is imprisoned in office number seven by a ruthless businessman and later blackmailed by a scheming techie. Her task is to save her father, whose impetuous schemes have caused all the trouble. HATFIELD: a handsome entrepreneur, he saves his family’s company from an evil partner and finds true love along the way. MILLER: a well-meaning widower, his ill-devised schemes endanger his daughter and himself. ANN: Lacey’s friend and confidante, she wants the perfect life for herself and her girlfriend. LOIS: a secretary, she’s a no-nonsense assistant who must carry out the orders of her bosses—good or bad. DEVLIN: ruthless businessman, he lets his greed get the best of him. STILTS: Lacey’s nemesis. I heard the uniqueness of her voice right off. Natasha has been in several local music theatre productions and still studies voice. She also teaches health sciences at Chaffey College. Hatfield -- DAVID JOHNSON I know David really well because he is my son. At the time of this recording, he is the student director for Chamber Singers at Mt. San Antonio College. They recently won the title “Choir of the World” in Europe. He also plays a smooth trumpet and could very well be the “new Chet Baker”. Miller, Devlin, Stilts -- WAYLAND PICKARD Wayland is my “piano pal” in DOUBLE GRANDÉ and is one of the most talented people I know. He was the inspiration for the “glasses” on Stilts—especially when they’re taped together. Wayland can play the perfect nerd, but really he’s just a normal down-to earth Texan who loves music. It’s a pleasure working with him. Lois -- LORI DONATO Lori is a dear friend. I was looking for a “low vocal” quality for Lois and definitely got it! She admits that her range is becoming a Tenor! Lori and I used to put on professional vocal workshops, which she still does in Los Angeles. She’s a wonderful coach and is a beautiful person and friend. Chorus -- LAWREN DONAHUE, CRYSTAL AGREDANO, MARC ZAPANTA, AVI KAPLAN, DAVID JOHNSON, DEBORAH JOHNSON All of the chorus are students from Mt. San Antonio College (except me, of course!) They did a great job in laying down the vocals. We separated the girls and guys and tripled each part. (this covers a multitude of sins!) It was fun to give them the experience and to help them to raise a little money for their upcoming tour to Carnegie Hall! Additional solo on Voice Mail -- LAWREN DONAHUE Lawren is studying opera at Mt. San Antonio College and is is Chamber Singers and one of the top jazz vocal groups. She must be great on the phone, because she nailed the speaking part the very first time on Voice Mail! Additional solo on Hacker Crew -- AVI KAPLAN At the time of this recording, Avi is just 19 years old. Pretty amazing for the depth and richness of his voice! Someone discover this kid! I think he could have a real future. I’m glad he’s staying in school and studying. He says his voice keeps getting lower. Scary...!
