The Most Underrated starts with an exploration into the knowledge locked inside 4Mative's mind and soul, followed by a realization of the state of the world around him. The album, then, transitions to a reminder that life is not as serious as we make it out to be, and that you should have fun every once in a while. This transition is reinforced in the next song, where 4Mative collaborates with 4 of his closest friends, who just happen to be equally unknown and underrated in their own right. 4Mative takes the reigns back with a transition to a light-hearted, upbeat dance track- proven to get the whole room moving. Suddenly, the mood changes 180 degrees. 4Mative shows you his sinister side with a symbolic story narrated by the villain, who is rage personified. Reminiscent of a comic book story, Rage explains the chasm between him and the hero (or villain, depending on whose side you're on) Benevolence. Journey into the mind of the irrational madman as he tries to rid the world of everything good. Just as you are thinking that you have started a war with someone who will never quit, 4Mative stops to tell a story of a real-life encounter he had with a young man during his lunch break while he worked at a corporate desk job. The young, homeless man showed 4Mative how important it is to keep moving when times get tough, and even those who you rely on the most might not have the best intentions, but to not forget the importance of relationships. This must have been a defining moment for 4Mative, as his next track goes on to tell the love story between him and his future wife. This beautiful story tells the listener what love means, from 4Mative's point of view. He's an open book about his love for Ella, and it ends with an epic proposal. As 4Mative takes the next steps through life, he realizes he's had enough with oppression and division. He attempts to break the cycle of oppression perpetuated by his fellow humans of European descent, citing specific instances in history where the white man chose the immoral path, while highlighting the resilience and perseverance of African American and Indigenous peoples of the United States throughout history. 4Mative brings us all together in the end of the song to remind us that the powers that be cannot stop us all if we team up against them. Staying on the subject of fighting negativity, poison, and tyranny, 4Mative's next track delves into the story of why he went vegan, and how he uses food as his medicine, instead of prescription drugs. Just as the listener feels that the knowledge dropped on them was starting to get a little too heavy, in comes Misfits. A head-banging beat with retro video game sound effects kicked off by Thadi P. 4Mative has been quoted saying, "Thadi P is my biggest competition when it comes to pen game," and Misfits is a perfect example of why he feels that way. Once again, 4Mative takes the reigns to bring us on another hair-raising journey; this time, into espionage. In the Land of the Loopholes, 4Mative seems to be some sort of hit man whose reputation turns even the most powerful leaders into cowering fools. After the deed is done, 4Mative takes us back to the classic hip hop to show the audience that he stands on the shoulders of the giants that came before him. You can tell that he had fun making this one. As quickly as 4Mative brings in the fun, he reminds you that life isn't all fun and games. Setting Course is a dedication track to 4Mative's first child who is on the way, and also his late grandfather. This is no nursery rhyme- 4Mative holds nothing back with the deep and underlying advice in his lyrics throughout the song. Clearly, 4Mative's child will need to wait to understand the full message later on in life, but the reoccurring theme references an audio clip of 4Mative's late grandfather giving him life advice. 4Mative finishes the album with corporate America in the crosshairs. He breaks down what made him reevaluate his career path, and led him to quit his well-paying job to seek a less comfortable, but more impactful and meaningful life. It was an interesting choice to end the album with this aggressive song, but it sure leaves the listener on their feet wanting more. It may even leave some inspired to make a change in their life, and create something incredible on their own. After hearing the whole album, it seems that is exactly what 4Mative hopes will happen.
