For years, C.B. Heinemann has been surprising and delighting audiences on both sides of the Atlantic with work in some of America's most acclaimed traditional Irish music groups. As composer, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, he played a key part in those groups' successes. Now performing as a solo performer, C.B. showcases his extraordinary talents and explores new musical directions. Heinemann was a founding member of The Ancient Orphic Mystery band, which went on to tour the United States, releasing an album on Troubadour Records. He was a featured accompanist on Fintan Vallely's "Traditional Flute Music of Ireland" on Shanachie Records. He also played in Haggis, one of Washington, DC's first "new traditional" Irish bands, and later joined Reeltime, playing at clubs and dances in Baltimore and releasing an album on TOB Records. He then formed Dogs Among the Bushes with Charlie MacVicar. They recorded five albums on DAB Records, and toured through the US. and Europe many times. They were the first American band to be invited to the prestigious Festival Interceltic in Lorient, France, and one of the first to tour former East Germany and Czechoslovakia after the Fall of the Wall. This new CD puts C.B. Heinemann's instrumental, vocal, and songwriting virtuosity in the limelight. Although he has been compared to artists like Richard Thompson and Nick Drake, he is unique in his own right, and is sure to gain a larger audience than ever.
