AS WE EMBARK ON THIS THIRD CD PROJECT... we've come to a realization of ourselves as musicians, christians and artists with a deep-seated faith in God. Our heritage evolved from church backgronds. David Lee playing the piano for Camp Meeting services at his father's church in Oklahoma; or Mel Wilkinson as a child swinging her legs and singing to the top of her lungs every song her father's southern Gospel quartet sang on stage, and later becoming the church pianist at a Baptist Church in Florida; or James Blanchard going to church and singing in the praise & worship services at his grandmom's church in a small country town in Missouri, and later becoming a youth choir director for a large church in Lakeland, FL. We are not a rock band, nor can we be categorized for any other genre of music. Our music swings from old fashioned Southern Gosepel to Rhythm and Blues, Jazz and other contemporary stylings. We are who we are, and that's our message. We went "Back To Our Roots" and dug out the core existence of our faith and present this music with no apologies. We are "fearfully and wonderfully made" and it's a GOOD thing! -Canaan Band
