After his piano studies at the Rotterdam and Amsterdam conservatories, Miguel Rodríguez saw no reason to return to his native Spain since he considered the Netherlands a hotbed for some of the best jazz music being produced in Europe right now. Taking full advantage, he began a trio with contrabassist Luciano Poli and drummer Francesco de Rubeis. After a period of experimentation in various directions, the line-up expanded to take on percussionist Miguel Hiroshi and flamenco singer Maria Marin. As a full band, they recorded their debut in 2012. The album is the result of his musical experiences he picked up mostly in Spain, Latin America and North America. His music fittingly combines intense and energetic rhythms with very sensitive melodies.
