The second installment in the "Under Cover" series by Matt Mylroie features the classic song "Running on Faith", made popular by Eric Clapton, and written by Jerry Williams. While still paying respect to the original arrangement, Matt and his friends take the song to entirely new places, from the beautiful melodic interpretation from vocalist Andy Browning, to a rocking outro complete with dueling guitar solos, the track is packed with emotion and dynamics. The collaborating musicians were given minimal direction, and were encouraged to add their own flavor to the performance, with the goal of obtaining not only a creative arrangement, but to create a studio-quality sound while preserving some of the edge and authenticity of a live performance. "Under Cover" is a project that pays tribute to some of the sounds and styles that have influenced the artist. While this marks the second cover of a song done by Eric Clapton - marking the significant impact he has had on Matt's music - the purpose of this project goes beyond that. Each of the songs chosen for this project have special significance - representing a variety of substyles that have influenced Matt and songs that are sentimental favorites; each one chosen to represent an important time in Matt's life or musical development. Rather than being released as an album, each of the songs from this project will be individually released, with a collection possibly to be re-released in the future. Matt played a custom-Made HRT guitar for the primary lead guitar, and a custom Studio 63 guitar was used by Matt for his outro solo and rhythm parts.
