Deserter was recorded in the winter and spring of 2014 in Willie Stratton's basement with the help of engineer Callum Gaudet. The album was recorded with various lo-fi and wall of sound recording techniques giving it a unique and gritty character, with influences coming from 60's girl groups, surf, and spaghetti western soundtracks.
