It’s been 8 years since the band last released new music. Kapena has hit the airwaves again and fans have been anxiously waiting for it. This new single introduces the new revised Kapena group: Kelly Boy De Lima, founder and leader of the original trio, and his 3 children – Kapena, Kalena, and Lilo. In 1991 “Kalena Ku” was born as was the song written by Kelly Boy De Lima for his eldest daughter which has become an island favorite. Nineteen years later Kalena, sings lead and plays keyboards on this first release titled, “Hideaway”. All the instrumentation is done by the De Lima family, except for the saxophone which is performed by a long time friend of the family, Kalena’s former saxophone teacher, Todd Yukumoto. Kapena – the eldest of the De Lima children and only son leads the production as sound engineer and plays drums and guitar; Lilo – the youngest girl is the bassist. Kelly Boy lends his voice to back up vocals, but it is no secret that he has poured everything he knows about the music business into his three children who have become professional musicians in their own right. Not only is this single much anticipated, but it also rose to the top of the radio hit playlist in its first week of airplay in the islands. As the group works to complete their new CD this song is just a taste of what is to come from the “Electrifying” Kapena.
