Known as The People’s Pianist, and one of Australia’s most passionate and hard-working musicians, pianist/composer Ambre Hammond has performed both solo and with Orchestras throughout Switzerland, England, Italy, Spain, Poland, North and South America, New Zealand and China. Ambre received her Associate Diploma of music (AMEB) at age 11 and then earned her Licentiate diplomas in the same year breaking a world record. Ambre has collaborated with legendary Hollywood film writer and composer Lalo Schifrin, who wrote a double concerto for classical piano, jazz trumpet and symphony orchestra especially for her and James Morrison. Ambre travelled to New York to record the music of outstanding American composer Patrick Zimmerli at the legendary Studios of Rudy Van Gelder, working with Producer Don Sickler and Van Gelder himself, and has collaborated with Vishwa Mohan Bhatt in an east meets west fusion concert at the Sydney Opera House in 2010. Vishnu is a renowned Indian slide guitarist who won a Grammy Award for his album with Ry Cooder. Following her passion to bring classical music to people in far-flung locations, Ambre is the founder of Girl Piano Truck which presents free concerts in schools and orphanages in remote worldwide locations and has taken the project to India, Thailand, East Timor, Belarus and the Philippines and in 2017 will take the project to Outback Australia. Akasha is Ambre's 5th album release and first album of original compositions.
