简介
Gaelynn Lea, winner of NPR Music's 2016 Tiny Desk Contest, spent her Fall busily working on a holiday-themed solo album, "Deepest Darkness, Brightest Dawn". This album is filled with all of her favorite Christmas carols, many dating back hundreds of years. This self-produced album was crafted in her hometown of Duluth at the lovely church-turned recording studio, Sacred Heart Music Center. She reworked many of the traditional melodies of the holiday season with the help of her Electro-Harmonix Memory Man looping pedal to create winding and intricate layers of sound. Guitarist and percussionist Al Church added to the ambiance with his atmospheric accompaniment on several tracks. Gaelynn hopes to create a new holiday tradition by putting a creative spin on the cherished melodies of the Christmas season.
