简介
My name is Emilia Glaser and I'm from Fall City, Washington, a small town with no stoplights east of Seattle. “In the Trees” is my first EP, with six original songs. I’ve kindly been told that I sound like a combination of Norah Jones, Natalie Merchant, and Joni Mitchell. Some of my major musical influences include Joni, CSNY, Simon & Garfunkel, Nick Drake, First Aid Kit, and Damien Jurado. Two of my favorites on the EP are: Embers (track 2)- This is a ballad about the fading love of an older couple and their reflection on the relationship. I’m Going Down (track 5)- This is the most upbeat song on the EP. “I’m Going Down” was reviewed by Victor Alferi for Wordkrapht on April 15th, 2015. “The Fall City, WA native instantly hits you in the earhole with that thick, soulful vocal which brings the image of melted white chocolate to mind. It’s smooth like Natalie Merchant with a hint of sweetness; not overpowering like straight chocolate can be. Did we mention she was 17? In speaking to Glaser, she said her debut single “is about embracing the unknown and the freedom that you feel when no one knows who you are. People can get bogged down with schedules and tasks. She went on to say “I wanted to express how liberating it can be to break from the mundanity of daily life and structure and ‘go with the flow.’ It’s also the first happy song I’ve written!” Let’s hope it’s not the last.“ I grew into my performing self at The Black Dog Arts Cafe in Snoqualmie, WA, a funky coffee shop with a rad open mic on Wednesday nights. I was also selected to perform at the 2015 Northwest Folklife Festival in Seattle. I'm taking my music north to British Columbia this fall where I'll be attending university after a stint as a summer camp counselor, playing "in the trees" with kids. Thank you for listening. I hope you like what you hear.
