简介
Øyvind Morken and Kaman Leung are Wild Flowers. Born out of a loft storage space in Oslo, the project coalesced around an arsenal of classic synthesisers gathering dust in a room that also functioned as a studio on occasion. Inspired by their shared appreciation for those early sounds of the first wave of techno coming out of both the UK and Detroit, the proto-house sounds of Chicago, italo-disco,synth-pop and Electro, Wild Flowers is a volatile collage of broken microchips and whimsical expressions. Their first experiments date back to 2007 in the basement of a Chinese church where they first struck hallowed ground together on an old MPC. It was a random and short lived collaboration, but it simmered quietly under the surface while they set about on their individual careers. Kaman Leung aka King Kaman aka MC Kaman deals in the dichotomy between the underground and its mainstream counterparts. Coming to Oslo, via Sweden via Hong Kong, he is a worldly iconoclast, with a finger on the pulse of trends before they happen. Kaman Leung was making trap before anybody had coined the phrase and he was playing South-Korean pop music before tik tok was a thing. Besides working with a Norwegian Eurovision hopeful, he’s also released music on Modern Love and remixed MF Doom. But probably he’s most sincere contribution to the Oslo DJ community has been Jaeger, a Norwegian clubbing institution that gave people like Øyvind Morken a home. It was at Jaeger in 2018, over a slice of pizza, where Øyvind and Kaman picked up where they left off in 2007. Øyvind, a long-standing resident at Jaeger by that point, had been building his own career releasing music via Mysticisms and his own Moonlighting imprint, but it is ultimately as a DJ he has left a mark on the scene. A selector (in every sense of the word) with an esoteric approach to a wide palette of music, Øyvind’s skills in the booth are whispered in hush edtones amongst the world’
