简介
"I love to listen to a musician whose heart and love for the music surpasses my awareness of the instrument being played. Terry Hankins does that! And although he has tons of chops and can burn, the focus on this album is not upon that, but rather the tunes, soulfully rendered with beautiful finger-style tone and conception. My friendship with Terry goes back to 1989, the first year I began teaching at the University of North Texas. He was an outstanding young guitarist in the program, and he played all the time. I think one is often the result of the other. God gives a measure of talent, but it must be put it to use and developed. Find a gig! Every time I hear him or have the pleasure of playing with him it is just obvious to me that he not only loves what he does, but has become a really great musician. A few years ago I was able to entice him into teaching at UNT and watching him work with the students and seeing the care and attention he gave to each one was very special and his musical enthusiasm is contagious. That spirit is definitely present on this unique and sensitive solo guitar recording. By the way, two of my all time favorite tunes are Lennon and McCartney’s Blackbird and Fats Waller’s Jitterbug Waltz, and I love these versions of them. Way to go, Terry!" Fred Hamilton Professor of Jazz Studies University of North Texas "Mr. Terry Hankins has produced a superb solo guitar album. Not many guitarists can do an entire album of high quality such as Terry Hankins has. His choice of harmonies are excellent. He always has moving lines. There is never a dull moment throughout the album. I cannot wait until the next album." Jack Petersen Berklee College of Music University of North Texas "This is a very enjoyable CD. Terry Hankins musicianship shines brightly and the program is varied and interesting. What is particularly striking in a solo guitar CD is the fact that there is never a feeling that anything is missing! Melody, harmony, rhythm and a beautiful acoustic guitar sound are all present at all times and themusic is comfortable within its own skin. Each track is convincing musically and the CD is a good listen. I highly recommend it" Dan Haerle Regents Professor Univeristy of North Texas
