Muriel is an Argentinian pianist, singer and composer who has been living in South Africa for 20 years. Her versatility and love for diverse music genres has broaden her horizon and paved the path to become the co-founder of several projects and bands of contrasting music styles. Her new project is well rooted on Muriel’s Argentinian, Latin, African and Jazz background. From Tango to Maskandi, Swing to Chacarera, Mbaqanga to Toba lullaby, this original project ensures a unique experience which embodies Muriel’s life path as an artist. This EP includes two original compositions and two covers. 1. Muri This original song was inspired by the Mbira uneven meter groove. Muriel was then inspired to embellish it with a warm yet full vocal melody and strings counter melodies. 2. La Muerte del Angel Original version of Astor Piazzolla's composition. A rendition with drum 'n bass influence and arrangements with a fusion approach. 3. Scorpionfish (Spanish Version) Original version of Beatenberg's composition. Mbira riffs, chacarera feel, reharmonizations and a new vibrant salsa section! 4. Assef Original composition based on the African bow riff. Vibrant, funky world fusion. Enjoy!
