Tiffany Poon, age 17, was born in Hong Kong. Her unique musical talent was soon discovered when she began playing piano at the age of 4. Two years later, she started giving public recitals and winning competitions. At age 8, she was accepted into The Juilliard School Pre-College Division on a full scholarship. In Fall 2014, Tiffany will be attending the Columbia University/Juilliard School Exchange program. She has been named a John Jay Scholar by Columbia University for her remarkable academic and extracurricular achievements. Tiffany made her concerto debut at age 10. Since then, she has given solo recitals across the United States, as well as in Canada, Italy, Germany, Russia, Australia and China. She has performed fundraising solo recitals to benefit Doctors Without Borders, Habitat for Humanity, Heart’s Home USA and The Calhoun School. She has also appeared as a soloist with orchestras such as the Moscow Chamber Orchestra at the Pavel Slobodkin Center in Moscow, and in the United States, the Plainfield Symphony Orchestra, Fort Smith Symphony, and the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra. In 2008, Tiffany was named an Honorary Citizen of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and was presented with the “Key to the Frontier,” by Fort Smith Mayor, for her outstanding performance with Fort Smith Symphony. In 2009, she was selected as Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist and was featured on National Public Radio’s “From the Top,” which showcases America’s best young classical musicians. Most recently, she has been named a 2014 National YoungArts Winner in recognition of her exceptional artistic achievement in classical music. Among her many accomplishments, Tiffany recently won first prizes at Chopin International Piano Competition for Young Pianists in Moscow (2012), Kaufman Music Center International Youth Piano Competition in New York (2013), and Juilliard School Pre-College Concerto Competition (2014). Tiffany presents a wide variety of solo repertoire in her debut CD "Natural Beauty" recording with a selection of works ranging from baroque to impressionism. With her exceptional talent, she was invited by Kawai Pianos to record "Natural Beauty," which was produced by Kawai Pianos in Krefeld, Germany in November, 2013.
