Back in 2012, I started work on what would be my first independent album. Normally when I'm composing, I don't think about what to call tracks, or how they'll eventually fit together. In my DAW, the song projects are quite random, and usually describe a sound that may only play once in the piece. My only requirement (for myself of course) is that the theme of the music is consistent. I had also never used lyrics in any previous work, only snippets from an old podcast I used to host. Singing was new to me, but I quite enjoyed the experience and I think it shows in Journey. Being that it was my first-ever produced album, I still consider it my best work. The album blends electronic, experimental, ambient, drum & bass, trance, and even the odd meter every so often. Each track comes together to create a story of a dark world shrouded in technology. I'm an avid science fiction reader, so perhaps my subconscious drifts there during the musical process. Either way, the album comes together to give a unique experience to any listener, and tells a tale that may be different for everyone.
