简介
Franz Rothe teaches mathematics at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He is professionally trained in flute at major German conservatories and has performed in the USA and Germany. In North Carolina, he has continued his musical education with pianist Heather Coltman, John Roberts and flutist Irene Maddox. He was a participant in the master classes of the distinguished flutists Trevor Wye and William Bennett. Thomas Turner has taught piano and composition for twenty-eight years at American universities. He has performed premiers of important modern works, and his own music has been heard in London, New York and Toronto. Turner studied piano with Webster Aitken and other pupils of the great Beethoven exponent Arthur Schnabel. Thus Turner enjoys the link to the masters of great tradition. Like his predecessors, he performs with uncompromising refinement and powerful virtuosity. He has received numerous awards and grants, including the Hinda Honigman award for composition from the North Carolina Federation of Music Clubs and ten grants from "Meet the Composer". The two artists have been working together since spring of 1992 to build a common repertoire, including major works as well as their own arrangements. In the summer of 1994, Turner and Rothe have performed at the University of Ludwigsburg in Germany. They are currently working on two other CDs: "Serenade" with the serenade by Beethoven and the fantasy pieces by Schumann, and "Mandolin" featuring song transcriptions.
