简介
Taken from a recording of one concert, the album features thirteen songs. Played on guitar and upright piano, Pete’s songs are accompanied by the unified sounds of the Only Ones (Heath Cullen on guitar, Robyn Martin on bass, Jay McMahon on drums and Anna Martin on trumpet), whose cohesive musicianship demonstrates a longstanding shared musical history. Pete, who hails from the legendary NSW town of Candelo, released a debut album “pete wild” which was ABC Radio National album of the week. Pete’s original material on the album reflects small town country life: The folk-country “Brisbane Line” describes how crossing an undetermined line in a relationship can transform the emotional landscape of a familiar place; and “Sam’s Caravan” is a (mostly) true story about resourceful country-town living, sharing, owner-builders and friendship, played bossa style. “Moonshine” (written with a little assistance from Ailsa Wild) is a piano-pop song about a good friend who used to be very good at taking good care of his health, but one day chose to end his own life. The album also includes definitive versions of songs by Baterz, Paul Kelly and Brian Wilson. Pete’s music hums with poetry, energy and a strong sense of community. The album captures the feel of a concert in a small-town country hall, and you can almost feel the floorboards and smell the fire out the back.
