Kiku was born in Belgium and raised in the Democratic Republic of Congo; and is a grandchild of the first president of the Belgian Congo (currently known as the DRC), former President Joseph Kasavubu. During his teen years he immigrated to South Africa where he completed his high school and tertiary studies. PASSION FOR MUSIC In the late 90’s, Kiku discovered his hidden talent for music. His talent fast grew as he continued to invest in his singing and musical abilities, which got him noticed as a passionate singer who could accompany himself on the piano. MUSIC CAREER Kiku joined Rhema Bible Church in Randburg as a Worship Leader and Choir Master. He was employed at Rhema for over 10 years to lead a congregation of more than 30000 in attendance, until he left to pursue other opportunities in 2010. During this period, Kiku also shared the stage with local and international performers such as Josh Groban (USA), Jonathan Butler (SA), Israel Houghton (USA), Ron Kenoly (USA), Chevelle Franklyn (Jamaica), Darlin Zschech (Hillsong Australia), Lionel Petersen (SA) and Sibongile Mngoma (SA). Kiku also performed in his personal capacity for personalities such as Felicia Mabuza-Suttle, Lucas Radebe, Basetsana Khumalo (former Miss SA), Pastor Ray McCauley, Pumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, the Department of Tourism, Rhema TV and 1Gospel. RECENT ACHIEVEMENTS In his role as a songwriter, music producer, arranger and MC; Kiku also operates his own music studio. He worked with well-known producer JB Arthur (who produced Freshly Ground and Watershed), as well as Malie Kelly (SA Idols’ vocal coach). In 2012 and 2013, Kiku was a principal judge at the UJ (University of Johannesburg) Idols, alongside well-known radio personality, Gareth Cliff. Kiku was also appointed as a music director for the phenomenal play, LEAP in 2013 where he produced all the music (13 tracks) for the play. In 2014, Kiku worked as a vocal coach and choir master in the Trace TV “Stars Competition” alongside RJ Benjamin. He also made musical jingles for Airtel Network in the DRC. He is currently completing the production of his solo debut album, and one of his songs called Be-One is receiving airplay on an international TV station, b-one TV.
