简介

Song Notes Pixie Dust—about the second coming of Christ. The inspiration for this song came from my youngest daughter when she was still in diapers. She had walked by the TV while a video of the stage play, “Peter Pan” with Mary Martin was playing. When she saw the children fly up in the air, she tried to jump up in the air and was befuddled by the fact that it didn’t work for her. It made me realize that we all have an innate desire to fly and where that comes from. (I Corinthians 15: 50—52) You Can Step on my Blue Suede Shoes—the antithesis of Carl Perkins’/Elvis’ Blue Suede Shoes song. It’s about turning the other cheek (Matthew 5:39). The Hound of Heaven—Inspired by the great poem of the same name, penned by Francis Thompson in the mid-1800s. Pickle in my Sandwich—a deep and reverential treatment of an inspired moment that occurred while making a sandwich. It’s actually about enjoying the simple things in life. I’ve Got the Yellows—I love listening to the blues… but don’t like having them. So, I wrote a song about the joy of the Lord! (Nehemiah 8:10) No Crown Without a Cross—Inspired by a sermon I heard once. A pastor was sharing about how there is no victory without sacrifice and humility. He pointed at an image of a crown in the sanctuary and then, a cross, saying, “There’s one thing I know… there’s no THIS (crown) without a THIS (cross).” (Galatians 6:14) Just Dessert—I was playing with the phrase, “Just Desserts” in my mind and this song came to me. Wanting just dessert and getting our “just desserts” as a result. (Romans 5:8) Another Chance to Praise Him—My family left for the store and when they came back, I had written this song. It’s based on I Thessalonians 5:18 - “...in everything give thanks, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” Light in the Darkness—based on the story in John, chapter 9 of the man who was born blind and was healed of his blindness by Christ. Little Bitty Seeds (The Sower Parable)—This is a great song written by Dan Whittemore (published by Lillenas Music 1974). I learned it as a camp song and thought it would be cute to try singing it in different artist’s voices—Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, et. al.
