简介

Hip Hop for OneWerd began in the SF bay area amidst a haze of graffiti-based classroom scribbles, open-mic freestyle cyfers, and the peak of the mid 90’s underground scene. Since the inception of his first four track tunes, OneWerd’s progression as an artist has been traced through 5 commercial releases, culminating in his current project “Free Music”. Throughout the album, this emcee projects pure adrenaline through rapid fire, multisyllabic rhymes, as well as electronically infused, dubstep and trap-influenced production. Right out of the gates, OneWerd aims to leave a lasting impression with “Run This”, a 140 BPM speed-rap laced banger intent on illustrating his skills as both an emcee and a producer. The album doesn’t take itself too seriously though, and the catchy and humorous “Calculator Watch” extols the virtues of the title timepiece. Pushing lines like “I ball smart, all the hipsters want to copy me” and describing the Casio’s ability to “…teleport through time and space,” this single and it’s accompanying video are a listener favorite. As a whole, the album spans the range of traditional hip hop swagger (Run This, D.I.Y., Bars Up) to introspection (Everything is Changing, How U Like That). The album’s guest appearances are featured on the track “You and I”, where OneWerd, Telli Prego of Gas Mask Colony, and upcoming vocalist Pete Feliciano each look back on their own broken romances over production by Ezeroh 1. Werd leaves us with the title track, in which he examines the relationship between artist, fans and distribution in the post-napster internet era. This project is replete with lush synths, warm subs, pounding drums, and lyrical rhythms that are poised to keep listeners tuned in and pressing rewind. Staying true to the underground roots that first inspired OneWerd’s musical journey, “Free Music” is a step into tomorrow. Ladies & Gentlemen, the future is bright and the music is free.
