“Meagan’s lyrics and singing are sultry, provocative and real.” After over a decade of wandering the globe, performing the musical styles of many cultures, and studying the rich wisdom of the human body, Santa Fe based artist Meagan Chandler offers her first original album, “Sensual”. This playful, dark, magical music for shape shifters blends many cultural styles, from dub, hip hop and electronic to exotic Mediterranean flavors and beyond, into an experimental pop journey that explores archetypal relationships and the vast terrain of the senses. "Our bodies are rich with wisdom and information. When we learn to listen as we move through our lives, the most amazing stories begin to unravel out of our cells and bones," Meagan explains. "These songs come from my listening for over a decade to the amazing conversations my body has with this big wild world all around through my senses, and from experiencing the complex terrain of human relationships from this embodied place." Written on long walks through the New Mexican desert, this album includes a fantastic variety of talent from the rich local Santa Fe underground music scene. Produced by contemporary composer and musician Jeremy Bleich (Circus Luminous 2007-9 + 2011-12 and Love and Emma Goldman: A Rock Opera 2012), it also features drum tracks by DJ Feathericci (0f D Numbers) and Milton Villarrubia, jazz piano by John Rangel, horns by JQ Whitcomb, the exotic violin of Sitara Schauer (Rumelia), string by Carla Kountoupes and Shanti Randall, and touches of masterful Flamenco guitar by Joaquin Gallegos, as well as guitar tracks from acclaimed NYC based musician Scott Barkan, and additional drum programming by Colorado based Derick Disterhoft. The project was funded by popular crowd funding platform Kickstarter.com. “In this day and age, with access to the whole world via the internet, and with the music industry in shambles, a whole new paradigm for music is blossoming, one that transcends genre, embraces vast cultural diversity, and digs for the soul beneath it all, our nature and our place in the larger picture. This album is my mission statement,” says Meagan, “And a call to every one who will listen to dig for their deepest potential and find a way to give their authentic gifts to the world.”
