His first love, right from his school days, has been popular music, followed closely by Indian classical music. At 17, he started training in Western Classical Piano under Mr. John Jacob, of M/s Musee Musicals Chennai. He completed musical grades from Trinity College of Music, London. His family friend and mentor Mani Sharma, a popular music director in Southern India, later trained him in advanced music essentials for commercial music production. Srikanth, being a computer engineer by profession had a natural inclination towards PC- based music production. He was a pioneer in Chennai in usingcomputers for music production in the early 1990s. During this period, Srikanth,along with his friend and music director John Peter, started producing music for advertisement jingles and background scores for various Tamil Television serials. He also performed on stage with the band named "Alaapana". Later in 1996, he moved to the United States to pursue his computer science career. After moving to the United States, his music versatility grew even more. He now had easier access to learning and understanding various forms of world music. In 1998, Srikanth started producing and publishing instrumental singles via MP3.com. All of his instrumentals tracks topped the Indian charts in mp3.com. Later in 2000, his studio came into existence. He teamed up with many local artists of the community and started publishing singles. All of his vocal singles were released thru MP3.COM and his own website, http://www.srikanthd.com. Srikanth slowly built his fan-base and got reviewed and interviewed by various Indian media. Slowly but surely, his Studio and Music Production grew in size.2002, his first commercial album Mahaakvai was released by Kriya Kreations, Chennai, a recording company owned by the renowned classical dancer, Srinithi Chidambaram. This music album featured top play back singers like S.P.Balasubramanian, Sujatha and Srinivas. Mahaakavi was recorded and produced at his state-of-the-art music studio, "Studio1234". His music is a product of his wide ranging musical tastes and ethnic background. 2003 saw Srikanth entering the world of scoring music for short films. Thanks to various Indian movie-makers who teamed up with him to score original background music for their films. These films have been featured in triggerstreet.com, a website owned by Academy award winner Kevin Spacey. His background score for the short movie Noose [Directed by Arun] received raving reviews from the trigger street community. Srikanth also contributes various articles on music and music appreciation. Many of his articles can be found on various Tamil film music web portals and in his Blog http://srikanthd.blogspot.com. Srikanth calls this album as a new genre called "CurryRock TM". Today Studio1234 has state-of-the-art production capabilities to handle medium sized audio and video productions. © 2005 H1BEES Inc
