Lyrically, Lines Written in Code explores the disconnect between our desires and our actions, the things we wish to say or do but never have the courage to act upon. It is an album of silent heartbreak, missed opportunities, realities that might have been. None of this is more apparent than on Echoes, the track from which Lines Written in Code takes its name. The song is a soliloquy that never was, with singer Leslie imagining what might have been between her and the song’s subject many years ago.
