Paradise Regained is the second original album from a Chinese uprising pop musician, singer-songwriter Asher. When asked about the ideas and purposes of this album, he expounded—— It has been four years since the release of my debut album. Having experienced many obstacles in life, I realized that most people, due to various social constraints, go separate ways from their dreams. We are immersed in a lost place filled with indifference for too long, to the point where we forget how to care, persist, express, feel, and live our truth. Regaining our own paradise requires unprecedented courage and beliefs that are probably not understood by the world. Creating music is what I excel at the most, so music is the bridge that leads me to my own paradise. Perhaps for me, it’ll take countless days and nights of struggle to be able to live in that ultimate free and unrestrained state, but I am willing to chase that goal with all I’ve got. Also, I dedicate this album to my grandmother, who left us in 2023 due to illness. She was a devout Christian, who loved, supported and accepted me unconditionally. When she was around, she often played my songs at home. I hope by naming this album Paradise Regained, it can bring my voice to heaven where she currently lives, continue to express my heart to her, and let her know that I’ll keep singing my songs and being myself. My love for her goes on for all eternity.
