As terrific as Mingo's last album was, this one is even better. Mingo has upped the ante texture-wise and the sound is even more free and light, even spacier (I mean all these adjectives in positive ways, of course). "This Side of the Night" is a journey to the other side of the universe, where you can hear the stars twinkle and space exude its personality. Emerging from the techno scene of the early 1990's, Mingo has explored a variety of musical styles. By the end of the decade, Mingo's sound has progressed towards the ambient space sound influenced by the Orb and Steve Roach. After releasing several ep's and singles, in 2005 Mingo released his first full length ambient CD, "The once and future world" appearing on the Helmetroom Recordings label. In 2006, two previously unreleased CD's were released; "the floating planet" as well as a collection of electro and dance tracks entitled "monochrome," both appearing on the Sonarweb Communications label. Mingo's 2nd full length space CD, 'This Side of the Night' was released in October 2006 also on Sonarweb.
