简介

Claiming Neptune is female-fronted, new-school (but inspired by old school) indie/alt rock band from Austin, TX with a smooth and groovy kind of 90s sound that blends elements of alternative, folk, progressive, hard rock, blues and Texas. The band started in September 2014 with the idea of making folk music, but as the lineup solidified, band members’ musical influences started intermingling with each other, and the sound took on a life of its own. Band members are Derrick Yeoman (guitar) Robert Jenkins (guitar), Joshua Wuensche (drums), Adam Barone (bass & keys) and Lisa Borjon (vocals). In Times of Change was recorded in the summer of 2015 at Austin to Boston Recording Co. in Round Rock, TX with producer/engineer Mark Donovan (Malford Milligan Band, Buddy Miles). GETTING TO KNOW CLAIMING NEPTUNE by Jacqueline Jax A.V.A Live Radio & American Pride Magazine BEING UNIQUE… A lot of musicians find inspiration in other musicians, but i feel that there’s a balance because we’ve managed to keep a unique style, and stay true to our music by evolving as a band through our creativity and not what popular media is trending. SUCCESS.. Most of us day dream of being able to provide for our self and the ones we love, but to truly manifest those ambitions into reality is not only a personal success but more importantly an inspiration to others. SIGNING UP TO SING.. I’ve always liked to sing but just never imagined actually doing something with it. I used to sing Disney songs to my mom when i was little all the time. Huge shower performer too :) Thankful that you guys came to me about joining the band! The timing was perfect! Jamming on the guitars in the living room is always fun but it was a blessing that Lisa, Adam, & Josh were open to the idea of joining our little project of just Robert and myself. TWO WORLDS APART… Lyrically, Two World’s Apart is about that shift when a relationship ends badly and you’re left feeling like the world you once knew is completely off. For the chorus part, i tried to go along with the feel of the lyrics. A heart that once was whole is now broken. Instrumentally it’s played with an almost visual bitterness of betrayal. AUSTIN TEXAS… “Live music capital of the world”, speaks for itself!! The music scene is awesome, our diverse community is so welcoming and open-minded when it comes to music. The daytime offers everything from kayaking on Town Lake, to a personal favorite of shopping off of Congress Ave. The night scene is so much fun because everything is located close by, whether it’s bar hopping on 6th st, catching live bands, or clubbing. 5.5 Questions With Austin’s Claiming Neptune by Randy Combs The Justin Wayne Show Adam Barone, bassist for Austin band Claiming Neptune, stopped by TJWS and hung out in the chat room during the show. We had a chance to ask him questions which led to this 5.5 questions with the entire band. How cool is that? Tell us about the first time you heard yourself on radio. This actually happened last spring. We were all in different places and communicating by text…sort of doing a play-by-play of the moment. Basically were all flipping out because we thought it was so cool to be hearing somebody play our stuff besides us! It gave us confirmation that just maybe we were doing something cool. At this point, there are a few Internet radio stations out there playing our stuff now…along with you guys at www.thejustinwayneshow.com, and we really appreciate the support! What non-instrumental sound or sounds do you love? All of us are big fans of shows played by Mother Nature. We’ll get some killer thunderstorms here in Texas that just sound angry like they want to hurt you! We’ve also passed around this link to sounds that were recorded by the Voyager spacecraft: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MmWeZHsQzs. A lot of people think because space is a vacuum, that there’s no sound. But that’s not actually true—sound does exist as electromagnetic vibrations in space. These sounds were picked up by special instruments on the NASA Voyager and Hawkeye space probes. What’s the tenth most surprising thing no one knows about you? Probably that Lisa has recently expressed a distaste for men wearing flip flops. It’s on her @thelisamariee Twitter feed. I think the exact way she put it was, “Boys in flip flops are just lazy…I don’t like feet, so naturally I don’t like ppl in flip flops..specifically men bc that’s kinda the sex I’m attracted to lol ‪#whatevs.” To which Adam (@adambarone), an avid flip flop wearer, replied, “‪@theelisamariee‪ You could say the same about girls that wear glasses when they have a perfectly good set of contacts, oh snap crackle pop!‬” What is something you still want to learn from life? All of us collectively want to learn what this life can become for us as a band. We’re all about “chopping that wood.” We’re all hard workers, and we want to work hard as a band, so that we can make our music the best it can possibly be for our fans…earn more fans…then we’ll see where that gets us. What’s your favorite kind of sandwich and what would you wash it down with? Adam and Derrick – peanut butter and jelly with ice cold milk Robert – Simple plain ham sammich with a little lettuce and some green juice Lisa – Chicken parm…like her idol Peyton Manning…and a Lone Star tallboy Josh – Anything with meat and cheese that’s gluten free…sweet tea What one song never ever leaves your music player’s playlist? Adam – Sublime’s “April 26, 1992” from the 1994 Pulse album Derrick – “Leif Erickson” by Interpol Josh – “Hollow Moon” by awolnation Robert – “Sunday Morning” by No Doubt Lisa – “Stay” by Rihanna Thanks Claiming Neptune!
