Tropico BLVD is a musical group formed by Daniel Dean & Miguel Lantigua in Brooklyn, NY. They identify as pop rock but are strongly influenced by Latin, folk, jam, bluegrass, reggae, punk, RnB, zydeco, Afro-jazz, and hip-hop, often incorporating mashups, call-responses, and vocal rounds in their performances with Lantigua and Dean as the creative driving force often trading singing roles, and incorporating harmonies. The band loves to improvise, adopting the "Jam Band" form of long sets, jams, and instrumental sections. Dean and Lantigua have named The Police, Andrew Bird, John Lennon, David Bowie, The Grateful Dead, and Frank Zappa as among Tropico BLVD's key influences. The pair met Florida and have written with many local musicians in the Gulf Coast music scene, developing jams that would be later become Tropico songs. In 2015, after their move to NYC, they record their first demo which would be the basis for their material and first album. The band was backed by the rhythm section of the Brooklyn indie rock outfit Natural Stranger, musicians Josh Handford and JT Paz. In summer of 2016, the band moved to the Tampa Bay Area, to finish production of their first full-length LP. The sessions were engineered by fellow New York musician Daniel Mayer of Quincy Palace. While production was being done on the album Lantigua recruited a new rhythm section--Adam Mann of Simplified on drums & Electric Sun's Dan Gaily on bass to begin performing at local shows. Tropico BLVD just released their first full-length LP "It's Gonna Be A Good Day" in Summer of 2017. They currently perform in the Tampa Bay area. "We love having a good time and we hope you do too."
