简介
Ex-Wise Heads is the product of a chance meeting between bass player Colin Edwin (Porcupine Tree) and multi-instrumentalist Geoff Leigh, (best known for his work with the legendary Henry Cow). Since forming the band as a duo in 1998, Ex-Wise Heads have given their own curiously English and refreshing take on improvised and world influenced music, with three releases on their own “Hard World” label. Current album “Holding Up the Sky” sees a revitalized duo augmenting the raw and uninhibited Ex-Wise Heads sound with electro/ambient textures, without losing the primal and spontaneous feel of earlier releases. Guest musicians are Ian Dixon (Ape/Ute/Irmin Schmidt) on trumpet and Rick Edwards (Guitar Orchestra/Hossam Ramsay/Porcupine Tree/No-Man) on percussion. EX-WISE HEADS Quotes Classic Rock Mag. “ an ever changing sea of rhythms". Soundchecks "Trance-dancing nebulae achieved through accidental designs" Dusted “Colin Edwin & Geoff Leigh team up for their 3rd studio effort together, Holding Up the Sky, the duo's most satisfying & texturally varied yet. Combining the intertwined legacies of Krautrock and psychedelia while transcending meaningless all-inclusives like "world" & "trance," the disc maintains interest while remaining blissfully in the rhythmic pocket. “Ex-Wise Heads is a collaboration between Colin Edwin of Porcupine Tree and Geoff Leigh, formerly of 70’s jazz-rock experimentalists Henry Cow, bringing together the unusual combination of bass, flute & electronica”. World Unlimited “Thoughtful, innovative release. The sound is one of rhythmically driven ambient, electro, jazzy, global interplay which moves you, chills you & comes up fresh each listen. I especially like “Winter Of Discontent” with some great trumpet from Ian Dixon”. Classic Rock Society Mag. “”Light airy world influenced music. Quality music for an acquired taste”. Total Music Mag. “If you like your sounds innovative, open minded and intriguing then check this out”. Get Ready to Rock “Elements of progressive tripping and odd bursts of decent melodies. Mood inspiring & good background”. Rock n Reel The music is powerful & dynamic, merely slowing for breath – but never stopping – with “Mythography” & “Royal Flush”. Froots “Sounds stronger than you might expect, with jazzy playing & dubby basslines”.
