简介
in the year 1997 the austrian pianist volkhard iglseder started to implement his vision of a revival of the welltried trio. bassist horst ‚sandy‘ sonntagbauer from wels and the innovative drummer bernhard wittgruber from graz complete the band as congenial partners as well as friends. with their fascinating mixture of european jazz and classical romantic music the three musicians have been able to conquer the hearts of their audience in no time. with their line up, which hasn’t changed since 1999, triotonic are in the meantime among the most renowned trios in austria. their work is always affected by quality and originality, no matter whether they work together with bleu and café drechsler or the haydn trio eisenstadt in the project austrian art of the trio. their first cd entitled sensitive was released in 2001 and aroused fantastic reactions among the audience and the press. the new cd homecoming is another consequent step towards individualisation. many new influences have been used and the sound has been focused on each single musician of the band. homecoming atmosphere and passion. in the eleven songs on the latest album homecoming melancholic silence and hymnal euphoria melt to a charismatic vision of timeless music. the music alternates between groove and lyric. In songs like tomorrow or vanished days these moods meet in a dramaturgical manner and create a rousing effect in their contrariness. here the musicians of triotonic very openly deal with the most different influences from swing, rock and world. At first, you’ll be struck by Sensitive`s simplicity - but like a Rothko or a Barnett Newman painting, this is patient art whose subtlety isn‘t easily noticed.
