简介

Roaddoggreviews: Reagal have unveiled their new single “Wild Heart (Soul of the Ocean)”, and having not heard this band before, it’s astounding to hear talent from such young musicians. This single, whilst short, is spine tingling in every way, the haunting melodies, the female vocals that meander throughout the composition weave blissfully into the music but stay at the forefront of the soundscape to direct you through the layers of instrumentation that become more clear with each listen. Each instrument shines in its own right at varying points of the song, but none outshine the other, this isn’t ego, this is audible perfection. Once in a blue moon, a young band will come along and create something short, powerful and poignant, Reagal are one such band, and “Wild Heart” is one such composition. The contrasting vocals offset each other with such serenity that the track is almost angelic itself, it’s the dark melodies and heavy instrumentation that drags the angelic vocals from the ether to this mortal plain. As a debut single, this is awe-inspiring, and a projectile for such a band to go onto bigger things. 9/10 Ryan’s gig guide april15 - Single of the Month. Wild Heart (Soul of the Ocean): Reagal from Stoke On Trent release ‘Wild Heart (Soul of the Ocean)’ and it’s absolutely incredible; it’s a fusion of styles including Indie, Folk, Celtic, and Gothic Rock but it’s a winner and it works so well. Basically you have two powerful front women working as a vocal tag team singing over the music played by what sounds like indie rock Vikings; gentle then epic, you know what? Just bloody listen yourself. This is too good, it’s actually genius; am I making myself clear? Big pianos, Delicate singing followed by gigantic rock ballad-esque moments worthy of MEATLOAF or FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE and they’re right here in the Midlands. This would have been Album of the month had I not been sent a single. Okay, I’m going to suggest to the editor in this very review if he can create a single of the month especially for this. Did it work? Look above. Anyway just get this now. It’s phenomenal. Paul Oldfield, Radio Presenter - The Flames The second single from Reagal isn’t just a follow up to their previous record ‘Wild Heart (Soul Of The Ocean)’ it’s a literal progression into a realm of pop music that most modern groups would not dare to venture. ‘The Flames’ is literally pushing at the boundaries of the modern pop single. Haunting and unsettling, but brilliantly melodic, the song begins with a mournful solo piano intro before the lead vocal begins to unfold the tale. Reagal are blessed with two of the finest and original lead singers in pop music, Sian Alexandra and Songwriter Julia Mosley, and, as on the previous record the two share the vocal duties. The layered backing vocals towards the end of the song, featuring both of them is a glory to behold. Julia composed this tune, like the previous single, and you get the feeling when listening to these records that her heart bleeds for every character she creates. Julia has a talent for composing songs that paint widescreen panoramas of the mind. ‘Windswept’ is a word that has possibly been overused (particularly by this reviewer!) when describing Reagal’s catalogue, but it is still a pertinent phrase and again accurate here. This is a particularly restrained record that could very easily have gone over the top, but the skill of the assembled musicianship, and the production, keep it focused, and never once falls into the trap over overblown ‘Rock’ histrionics. Drama and passion are the key players here. It builds slowly and powerfully leaving you breathless by the end. You may need to check your blood pressure! In fact it almost boarders on psychedelia at times, especially during the instrumental ending, which could have temptingly concluded with a long ‘rocktastic’ guitar solo, but, as it stands, this is one of the most original things you’ll hear in a pop song this year. The two singles Reagal have put out in 2015 have used two of nature’s elemental forces as their theme. (Fire and water) So the question to be asked is, what element will feature predominately next? We look forward with eager anticipation to finding out. If the two records released so far are a portent of the album yet to come, then it will be well worth the wait. One thing for sure, ‘The Flames’ of success for Reagal are burning brighter by the day! The inferno has begun to smoulder and very soon it will be unstoppable. Ryan’s gig guide February 2017 - single of the month (A Stranger's Mind) Stoke-On-Trent based indie folk Goth rock band Reagal posted RGG an exclusive preview of their upcoming single ‘A Strangers mind’ which will feature on their hugely anticipated debut album ‘Life, Love and Imagination’; we granted them single of the month with their release ‘Wild Heart’ and we’ve done exactly the same thing again. Already this band have gained the attention of critics with unique haunting approach to songwriting. Classier than Florence And The Machine, darker and more credible than Nightwish; Reagal have outdone themselves once again with this delicate spiritual sounding Celtic-like gothic blues-rock ballad which sounds like an instant classic. There are no songs currently in the charts that can compete with the spellbinding earnestness and straightforward eloquence of ‘A Strangers Mind’. An exquisitely fine example of how great British music can be. If this is one example then I can guarantee that the entire album will be a joy to hear. Intelligent, meaningful and darn right cool. They have a Kickstarter campaign set up on their website and I will be donating; I hope you will all join me in helping this well deserved bunch of musicians who have spent five solid years on the live gig circuit grow to become a hit on the radio. Paul Oldfield, Radio Presenter: The new song released ahead of their debut album ‘Life Love & Imagination’ by ‘Reagal’ is called ‘A Stranger’s Mind’ and if this is a portent of what the album has to offer then it could easily be one of the best records of 2017. Pop music in recent years has suffered from an almost endemic obsession with being dull, dreary, soulless, and worst of all ‘Tuneless!’ Reagal are the anti-thesis of all those things, and it’s something to be grateful for. This third ’Single’ release by the group pushes the creative envelope even further than the previous two records and shows them to be now (or very soon will be) an unstoppable powerhouse collective. It’s hard to believe when hearing the almost orchestral sound that emanates from ’A Stranger’s Mind’ that Reagal are a Guitar, Bass, Drums and Keyboard combination, they have become so much greater that the sum of their parts. Group visionary vocalist and songwriter Julia Mosley has created a musical world that whilst reflecting individual trials and torments, lifts the spirits of those willing to listen, and most importantly of all, gives hope. ‘A Stranger’s Mind’ is possibly the strongest narrative yet in one of Julia’s songs. Another soaring story full of melodic resonance both vocally and musically. Short infectious Guitar hooks sporadically compliment the lead vocal adding to the unfolding tale, and the percussively strong rhythm section keeps the tension at a peak of alertness. The songs sudden ending will leave you breathless, akin to a cliffhanger in an episodic drama. No Sombre two chord piano plonking here with a plinking ukulele overdub. This is powerhouse pop of a sort that hasn’t really been done since the heady days of Queen in all their pomp. This isn‘t to say Reagal are old fashioned, far from it. This is ideologically fresh pop music for a 21st Century world. Julia isn’t a pretender wannabee pop-star, she IS a Pop-Star! The rest of the world just needs to catch up! It is unfortunate that this group have yet to receive the recognition they so richly deserve. The Music media has been a little sniffy and self righteous to say the least, preferring to wallow in the death throes of safe jangly guitar bands and acoustic drabness rather than investing it’s time in genuine talent. 'This' is a mistake they will soon have to repent. Others may be inspired to make music and records as good as this, but very few will achieve it. Reagal have honed their craft and waited patiently for their moment to arrive. That moment is now almost upon us………
